Verizon Ladies First Tour
After a phenominal European tour in 2003, Beyonce was ready to hit North American soil with an even better tour! With the help of Verizon (an American telephone comapny), Beyonce teamed up with Alicia Keys & Missy Elliott, and promised her fans an experience that they would never forget! From March 12 all the way up until April 21, 2004, the “Verizon Ladies” gave their fans a spectacular unforgetable 3-hour showcase. The show opened up with Missy Elliott’s 45-minute set which showcased all of her past hits including her then-recent album, “This Is Not A Test.” Next up was the funky soul diva, Alicia Keys. Her 1-hour set included her chart-topping singles from “Songs In A Minor” but mainly focused on her most recent album at the time, “The Diary of Alicia Keys.” And last but not least, the main headliner, Beyoncé, gave her fans the best hour of the night! She not only included songs from “Dangerously In Love,” but at one point did a great job letting her fans know that she hadn’t forgotten her roots. During one segment of the show, she performed a great DC medley which included their hits: Say My Name, Independent Women, Survivor, and much more. Her stage set was similar to the set she had in Europe, but had more features. It featured a huge screen in the back that filled the entire stage and a smaller screen which floated around the stage at different points in the show. Her band risers also floated around the stage, and in the middle of the show, made room for the rising staircase that acted as a slide at one point in the show. The Verizon Ladies First Tour is a tour that fans will never forget. Although there will never be a DVD-release (to our knowledge), FB has an exclusive video that will be available for download in the summer of 2006!!
