Beyonce Knowles made a surprise visit to a group of teenage girls attending a forum against violence before her concert Thursday in Washington.
The 25-year-old pop singer — clad in silver high heels, jeans and a gray blouse — shook hands and chatted for about 15 minutes with about 70 girls gathered at the Verizon Center. She posed with them in groups as a photographer in her entourage snapped pictures.

B took over the city this past weekend for a two-date conquest of Madison Square Garden. As the hook of the new hit record by Def Jam recording artists Dream goes, “Shawty is a 10.” There are few (very few) ladies out there who can really sing, a lot who can dance, a lot more who look good — but really no other who can combine all three and add iconic star power like Miss Knowles, arguably the best all-around stage performer in the game right now.

Pop stars Justin Timberlake and Beyonce led the nominations for the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday with seven apiece, followed by rapper Kanye West and Barbados teen-ager Rihanna who are both up for five awards.
British neo-soul singer Amy Winehouse got three nominations for the September 9 Las Vegas show, including video of the year — for which she will be competing against Timberlake, Beyonce, Rihanna, West and French electronic dance duo Justice.
“What great nominees! They truly reflect a stellar year in music and videos,” Christina Norman, MTV president, said in a statement.
