BEYONCE and her fella JAY-Z were the big winners at last night’s MOBO Awards picking up three gongs. They scooped two for their single Deja Vu, which was hailed as Best Song and Best Video. In her own right the former DESTINY’S CHILD star was handed Best International Female and Jay-Z scooped Best International Male.

Of our own homegrown talent it was CORINNE BAILEY RAE who did best. She beat JAMELIA to collect two awards for Best UK Female and Best UK Newcomer. Corinne, who has spent two months in the US Top 20, performed a Forties-themed medley. LEMAR was named Best UK Male which takes his total MOBOs tally over the years to three. He sang his single It’s Not That Easy for the crowd at London’s Royal Albert Hall. MS DYNAMITE’s younger brother AKALA beat BUSTA RHYMES and KANYE WEST to get Best Hip Hop.
