Beyonce Inks Deal With EMI Music Publishing
Beyonce has signed a deal with EMI Music Publishing, according to Mathew Knowles, the singer’s father and manager, who revealed the pact to Billboard.biz Sept. 7 at Billboard’s R&B Hip Hop Conference, taking place in Atlanta. The deal, brokered by EMI’s executive VP of urban music Big Jon Platt, brings the former Destiny’s Child leader under the same publishing roof as beau Jay-Z. Prior to this agreement Beyonce’s solo material was handled through Windswept Publishing, via a venture with L.A. Reid’s Hitco Music. Beyonce’s second solo album, “B’Day,” hit stores Sept. 4, the same day she turned 25. The first single from the albumDeja Vu featuring Jay-Zcurrently sits at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
