Mathew Knowles Denies Album Delay Rumors
Despite rumors to the contrary, Beyonce’s second solo album, “B’Day,” is still scheduled for release on September 5, according to the singer’s father and manager, Mathew Knowles. Some reports had suggested Knowles wanted to delay the album’s release to work on it some more. He also denied speculation of a conflict between his daughter and fellow R&B singer Rihanna, as well as reports that Beyonce released her single, “Deja Vu,” to compete with former Destiny’s Child bandmate LeToya Luckett’s self-titled solo debut album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 earlier this month.
“It is apparent that there is a consistent plan by some to create chaos around Beyonce’s ‘B’Day album release,” Knowles said in a statement. “Unfortunately what it shows is that anyone can go on the Internet and create rumors and the media in some cases will pick up these stories and run with them which influence the consumer’s perception.” Deja Vu peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart earlier this month. A second “B’Day” single, “Ring the Alarm,” was sent to radio stations earlier this month. “Our plan is to have three singles on the charts together,” Knowles said. “Rather than concern ourselves with purely chart positioning we are focusing on the combined audiences who are listening and are aware of the singles on the album.”
