Deja Vu Moves from 44 to 37 on Billboard Hot 100

With no digital downloads, and no video for extra promotion, Beyonce’s new single, Deja Vu has moved up 7 spots on the Billboard Hot 100. Currently, the song is only being promoted on the radio. Hopefully, by next week iTunes will release it, and it can move up even more spots. And the video is supposedly being premiered on TRL on July 12, which would make it move up even more!!

Beyonce Didn’t Call Scott Storch Back … And Now He’s Heated

Storch is thirty-two, super-rich and draped in the massive self-confidence of a successful producer. He’s worth $70 million, the result of his work with Dr. Dre (he co-produced “Still D.R.E.”), Beyonc (he produced “Baby Boy” and “Naughty Girl”), Justin Timberlake (”Cry Me a River”), Lil’ Kim (”Lighters Up”), Fat Joe (”Lean Back”), 50 Cent (”Candy Shop”) and Chris Brown (”Run It” and “Gimme That”). But even after a slew of great clients, he’s still bitter about those few who don’t call back. Storch is in a bit of a foul mood, upset that some of the superstars who are on his rsum are not in his future.”I worked with Beyonc on her last album,” Storch says. “I wasn’t invited to the new album. I only delivered three hit records last time. But a lot of artists figure they want to try something different. Whatever. There’s certain artists who are loyal and certain ones don’t really care and don’t give you the opportunity to follow through with them again. I’m insulted by a lot of the artists I delivered hits to.” He’s also upset for not getting the call back to work on Christina Aguilera ‘Back to Basics’ LP.

Pam Anderson Slams Beyonce & J.Lo

Former Baywatch babe, Pamela Anderson was in London last night to host an anti-animal cruelty awards party at Stella McCartney’s store. Anderson was joined by Gillian Anderson, Louise Redknapp and Sadie Frost at the event that handed out awards to celebrities who have fought against animal cruelty alongside PETA (People for the ethical treatment of animals.) At the event Pammy said: “My message would be to please start using fake fur. It’s terrible because people see stars like J.Lo and Beyonce wearing fur and they don’t think about the cruelty that goes into it. I’m here to hopefully raise a lot of money and if we raise enough I’ll strip naked in the shop window.”

Frost added: “I’ve always been an animal lover. People should be made aware of all the issues. Some people think that the whole wearing fur thing is glamorous but you can look good without it. Hopefully people will stop wearing it.” Redknapp also showed her support for PETA saying: “It’s something I feel very strongly about. If you can put a fur jacket on you should be able to watch the animal being slaughtered so I’m really behind Peta’s work.”

Beyonce Performs “Can’t Knock the Hustle” With Jay-Z!!

With rumours flying around that R&B’s hottest couple are going through a dodgy patch, Beyonce knows just how to divert attention. Proving that she and Jay are as close as ever, she took to the stage in a saucy frock. Beyonce stepped up to duet with Jay-Z, as he treated fans to a concert at New York’s Radio City on Sunday, June 25, 2006. The gig was to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt. The night started with the album’s elegiac finale, “Regrets.” And he built toward the finale, “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” an exuberant statement of purpose originally featuring Mary J. Blige, but on Sunday, Beyonc filled in. To check out HQs, click on the thumbnails below!! I will be posting audio and video of the performance later =P

Sheryl Lee Ralph Comments on Beyonce…

Rocka.Candy was lucky enough to grace Sheryl Lee Ralph’s presence for a second time. This time instead of chasing Ms Ralph through the streets of NYC, she sat down with them and filled them in on why she thinks Beyonce is not a Dreamgirl, explains her relationship with Brandy, and why the AID’s Epidemic is everyone’s problem. Who’s Sheryl Lee Ralph? LoL. She played the “Deena” in the original Dreamgirls stageplay. Beyonce plays Deena in the Dreamgirls movie, which will be released this December. See the connection? Hehe, check out a piece of the interview below. Click Here to read the entire thing.

R.C: How do you feel about Dreamgirls getting the Hollywood treatment?

SLR: It’s hard. Believe or not in the 1980’s when Dreamgirls opened we completely changed theater, we changed who came to the theater, and who was interested in theater. And now 25 years later, people find it so easy to act like we didn’t do what we did. Loretta Divine and Vondie Curtis Hall were in the original company, there were some great folks who are still working today.

R.C: How do you feel about Beyonce portraying the role you originally bought to life - Deena Jones?

SLR: It’s interesting, when Tom Eyen who is the creator, had this idea, he said that the Dreams, have to be three obviously black girls. Why? Because America will always go for that light, bright, long haired black girl because they will feel comfortable building her up, since they see themselves in her.

But for the obviously black girl, if she makes it, she deserves to be right there. Because they aren’t trying to push her, that’s why the Dreams had to be three obviously black girls.

So when they cast Beyonce in the role of Deena Jones. I said, “Wow, this is exactly what Tom Eyen said would happen.” They going to take to that light, bright blackish blonde girl because they feel comfortable with her. That’s the reality.

R.C: Who would you have cast as Deena Jones?

SLR: That’s hard because the industry isn’t pushing her, so you don’t have an obvious one to pick from. The closest one I can think of, that’s an obvious black girl with that glamour thing to her is Lauryn Hill. Heather Headley is kind of close but she’s not Deena. You know Deena is Diana Ross, she’s a drama girl, an out right glamour girl.

Beyonce’s Too Curvaceous to Play Eartha Kit…

Legendary actress/singer Eartha Kitt would rather have Halle Berry play her in a new biopic than original choice Beyonce Knowles, for she doesn’t think of herself as being as ‘Bootylicious’ as the young singer. Though Kitt, the original ‘Catwoman’ star, who has written about her seven decades in show business in her memoirs ‘I’m Still Here’ and ‘Rejuvenate: It’s Never Too Late’, was thrilled to hear that Hollywood bosses were casting for the big screen adaptation of the ooks, she was not too sure about the choice of Beyonce to play her. “I do not think I have quite the derriere of Beyonce. Give me Halle Berry instead,” Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

The Video for Deja Vu is Wrapped! It was Shot In New Orleans…

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z, the most prominent couple in contemporary urban music, shot a video in New Orleans this week. On Wednesday morning, they filmed at the scruffy Maple Leaf Bar in Carrollton. The video crew painted part of the Leaf’s interior and waxed and buffed both the dance floor and the stage. “They wanted that gritty New Orleans feel, but we were too gritty,” Maple Leaf owner Hank Staples said. “So we look all nice and clean for the time being. But don’t worry, we’ll take care of that.” Staples awoke at 3:30 Wednesday morning to greet the video crew by 4. They set up lights, cameras and a smoke machine. “With the smoke machine, we couldn’t use the A/C,” Staples said, “so it got very hot in here.” Beyonce and Jay-Z “mostly focused on what they were doing and didn’t want to be distracted,” he said. “They were very professional.” The shoot wrapped by 1 p.m., then moved on to the French Quarter, followed by a planned swamp shoot Thursday. Knowles’ second solo album, “B’Day,” is due Sept. 5.

Deja Vu Debuts at #44 on the Billboard Hot 100!

Season five “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks’ first single, “Do I Make You Proud,” debuts atop the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The silver-topped Alabama crooner moved 190,000 physical singles and another 38,000 digital downloads of the track, according to Nielsen SoundScan. “Do I Make You Proud” ends the two-week reign of Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” featuring Wyclef Jean, which falls to No. 2 on both the Hot 100 and Pop 100. The cut still leads the Hot Latin Songs chart for a sixth week and Hot Digital Songs for a third frame.

Beyonce’s “Deja Vu” featuring Jay-Z debuts at No. 44 on the chart, a career best for the Destiny’s Child frontwoman as a solo artist. The track is the first single from her upcoming sophomore solo set “B’Day”. Also new to the Hot 100 are Chingy’s “Pullin’ Me Back” featuring Tyrese (No. 86), Cham’s “Ghetto Story” (No. 99) and Steve Holy’s “Brand New Girlfriend” (No. 100).

Sean Garrett Talks About Beyonce’s Second Single…

Since 2004 Sean Garrett’s watched songs he’s written for Usher, Nelly and Destiny’s Child burn their way up the charts, earning him industry accolades and Grammy nominations. With Sean currently working on projects with Ciara, Beyonce and the Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie, more successes are assured — making this Atlanta hitmaker a Player to Watch in 2006. Shortly after scoring his publishing deal with Hitco/Windswept, in 2004 Garrett wrote his first commercial record “I Don’t Want to Hurt You” for Motown artist Latif. “Basically you do a co-publishing deal with a company and they help you shop your records around to artists and labels,” Sean explained to SOHH.

That same year Garrett wrote or co-wrote Destiny’s Child songs “Soldier” and “Lose My Breath,” Janet Jackson and Kanye West’s, “My Baby” Ciara’s breakout hit “Goodies” and arguably the biggest hit of that year, the Usher smash “Yeah,” which Sean says is his most memorable songwriting experience overall. “Seeing ‘Yeah’ go through different aspects to become one of the biggest records of 2004 was big. It was my biggest record of 2004. It was also great to work with Lil’ Jon and Ludacris and Usher on that. That was a great pleasure to see all of those guys come together and see a great opportunity to turn into something magical. I think that will go down in history as one of the great collaborations bridging r&b and hip-hop,” Sean told SOHH.

While songwriting can sometimes involve many personalities collaborating on a given record, Sean generally prefers to work alone or with the artist. “Too many cooks in the kitchen can definitely burn the food. Generally I write the song myself or co-write with the artist, depending on who the artist is. I write, arrange and most of the time, I co-produce the records. I pretty much do all of that. Sometimes I just write, sometimes I co-produce, it just depends on the situation,” Sean explained. One of Sean’s favorite songwriting experiences came recently while working with Beyonce on her upcoming album B-Day.
