Beyonc Talks Dreamgirls Role

One of the biggest anticipated films this year is the upcoming diva story of The Supremes in DREAMGIRLS, which has an all-star cast with Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, and Beyonce Knowles. Film is due out this December. Latino Review had a chance to catch up with the diva herself Beyonce Knowles while promoting her new upcoming film THE PINK PANTHER, in which she spoke a large amount about her character Deena for the film Dreamgirls.

Set in the turbulent late 1960s and early ‘70s, “Dreamgirls” follows the rise of a trio of womenEffie (Jennifer Hudson), Deena (Beyonc Knowles) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose)who have formed a promising girl group called The Dreamettes. At a talent competition, they are discovered by an ambitious manager named Curtis Taylor, Jr. (Jamie Foxx), who offers them the opportunity of a lifetime: to become the back-up singers for headliner James “Thunder” Early ( Eddie Murphy ). Curtis gradually takes control of the girls’ look and sound, eventually giving them their own shot in the spotlight as The Dreams. That spotlight, however, begins to narrow in on Deena, finally pushing the less attractive Effie out altogether. Though the Dreams become a crossover phenomenon, they soon realize that the cost of fame and fortune may be higher than they ever imagined.

Check On It: Beyonce’s 7th Number One!!

Beyonce Knowles reached the top of the singles chart for a seventh time Thursday with “Check on It” featuring Slim Thug. The track swapped places with Nelly’s “Grillz” featuring Paul Wall and Ali & Gipp, which fell to No. 2 after two weeks at No. 1. Knowles has now spent more time in pole position on Billboard’s Hot 100 as a solo artist than she did as part of Destiny’s Child.

Until this week, the group and the solo performer were tied, with 17 weeks each at No. 1. Destiny’s Child arrived at that total with four chart-toppers: “Bills, Bills, Bills” (one week), “Say My Name” (three weeks), “Independent Women Part I” (11 weeks) and “Bootylicious” (two weeks). Solo, she amassed 17 weeks at No. 1 with just two hits: “Crazy in Love” (eight weeks) and “Baby Boy” (nine weeks). The current chart week is her 18th frame at No. 1. “Check On It” is the first No. 1 hit for Houston rapper Slim Thug. His only other Hot 100 chart entry was “Still Tippin’” by Mike Jones, No. 60 in April 2005, but his album “Already Platinum” debuted and peaked at No. 2 in July 2005. Click Here to read more!

New Rap Beef: Cam’ron fires into Jay-Z!

Controversial rapper Cam’ron has launched a scathing attack on hip-hop rival Jay-Z with his latest track You Got It. The Hey Ma hitmaker, 29, labels Jay-Z “ugly” and even brings the hip-hop mogul’s long-term love Beyonce Knowles into the mix. The lyrics include, “I open up the Daily News. How’s the ‘King of New York’ rockin’ sandals with jeans?/ Open-toed sandals?” Cam’ron, real name Cameron Giles, accuses Jay-Z of lying about his age, rapping, “I don’t respect my elders/ You talk about you a ’80s baby/ You 37 years old/ You was born in 1968.” Referring to the former Destiny’s Child beauty, Cam’ron raps, “Beyonce, fiancee?/ Check my second LP/ I might bring her back/ That’s your girl, that’s your world/ Had the thing f**king singing ’bout slinging crack!” Cam’ron goes onto bring Jay-Z’s business interests to the track, claiming the latter stole the Roc-A-Fella empire from his former partner Damon Dash and should be giving publishing profits to late rapper Notorious BIG’s mother Voletta Wallace. The rap continues, “You stole Roc-A-Fella from Dame/ You stole Kanye (West) from Dame/ You stole Rocawear from Dame. “You ain’t the only one with big wallets/ Got it/ My s**t’s brolick/ But ya publishing should go to Miss Wallace.”

BeyoncePhotos.net Down Yet Again…ON MY BIRTHDAY?!

First off, I just wanted to let y’all know that today is my 16th birthday! But I have some bad news. As you can probably notice by all of the broken links and images, BeyoncePhotos.net is down yet again! I had to take it off because ever since I re-enabled it, the server has been very slow which sucks for me and you! hehe. Anyhow, I’m going to leave it down for the rest of the week and weekend, and if time and patience (on my part) permits, I’m going to convert everything over to a brand new and better system! If any photo updates should occur, I’ll most likely upload them to a temporary gallery so you all won’t miss a thing! I’ll update you more later on, and I apologize for all of the trouble this is causing a lot of you.

By the way, I am aware that Entertainment Tonight did a special on Dreamgirls, but I was unable to record it. Luckily, my good friend Vinny from Story of Destiny caught it for us! As soon as he sends it to me, I will post it up for you all to download.

Beyonce Keeps Music Separate From Jay-Z

R&B star Beyonce Knowles refuses to let her career dominate her relationship with long-term love Jay-Z, insisting they often ban conversations about music. The Crazy In Love singer, who has been dating the hip-hop performer and record label executive for over three years, prefers to keep her private life private - as fame puts enough pressure on their relationship already. She says, “I like keeping my privacy and not letting that part of my life become a news item. There’s enough pressure dealing with all the other aspects of what I do. We talk about our work, but only casually ’cause it’s nice not to always be thinking about it. When I’m not working on an album or touring, I just like to be very quiet.”

Beyonce: Cosmopolitan’s 2006 Fun Fearless Female Of The Year

Singing sensation Beyonce and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey are named Cosmopolitan’s Fun Fearless Female and Male of the Year. Gutsy, captivating, and not to mention gorgeous, Beyonce embodies the essence of Cosmo’s Fun Fearless Female of the Year. In spite of her success and popularity, she’s never fallen prey to the behaviors that have sent so many other starlets over the edge. That means no bitchiness, no train-wreck break-ups, no eating disorders, and no ugly fallouts with her parents. Beyonce’s always been talented and confident, but by going out on her own this year, the pop princess has shown a boldness and independence that earned her Cosmo’s Fun Fearless Female award.

Patrick Dempsey earned his place among past Fun Fearless Male’s Jon Bon Jovi, Matthew Perry, and Josh Duhamel by being a lot more than just another Hollywood heartthrob. In addition to his Dr. McDreamy good looks, Dempsey’s a talented and sensitive guy who has got serious guts. Also being honored in the February issue are Terrence Howard, Matt Dillon, Tom Welling, Jeff Probst, Matt Leinart, Thomas Hayden Church, Jesse Metcalfe, Greg Behrendt, Pharrell Williams, Brett Ratner, and Nick Lachey.

“Last year we received such an overwhelming response from our readers when we saluted all the Fun Fearless Males we love and admire,” said editor-in-chief Kate White. “We decided to do it again this year. We chose these hot guys because they’re the perfect combination of smarts, wit, talent, and good looks–traits every Cosmo girl looks for in a man.” Interview Highlights From the 2006 Fun Fearless Female and Males. Beyonce, Cosmo’s Fun Fearless Female of the Year, on her biggest risk to date: “I took a risk with acting. It was scary because it was different for me. You just always have to take risks. I always go with my gut, and it’s always right. People are scared to do that.”

SlashFilm.com Reviews ‘The Pink Panther’

Same title, somewhat different movie. Although a prequel, The Pink Panther is what the 1963 version would have been if they had done it wrong. The caper starts when a world-famous soccer coach is murdered on field and his priceless ring is stolen. Set into the ring is a diamond known as the “Pink Panther”; hence the title. Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Kevin Klein) charges Gendarme Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) with solving the case. He also gives him a partner, Gendarme Gilbert Ponton (Jean Reno). Ponton is a reference to Cato, but in a change up from the original series it is Clouseau that does the surprise attacking.

The original Pink Panther was a fluke, a pretty dumb idea for a movie that became a classic with the fortunate casting of one man. Peter Sellers made that movie work. Sellers had a gift for transformation, and immersed himself in the character of Clouseau. Steve Martin has never been one for disguise and here he looks like he’s wearing a fake mustache. His French accent is equally as strained, and unfunny. As a French Jerk, Martin spends a lot of screen time falling flat, both literally and figuratively. His best Peter Sellers imitation is just that.
