Beyonce Promotes “True Star Gold” in California!
Fans danced on countertops, waved camera-phones, screamed and wept openly when the R&B singer Beyonce Knowles rushed down the perfume aisle of Lakewood Center’s Robinsons-May, protected by a phalanx of bodyguards and assistants. The former Destiny’s Child singer on Sunday attended the only West Coast launch of her perfume, Tommy Hilfiger’s True Star Gold. Arriving late, the 24-year-old went straight to an hour-long autograph session. “The department store was chosen for its impressive True Star Gold sales,” said Robert Chevez, one of the event coordinators.
“This one, I thought it should be a little more…more hot, more warm, more sexy,” Knowles said in an interview after signing autographs. The perfume is advertised as a crisp, floral scent. “Something that’s for the night time or a date or dancing. Something that represents my stage personality.” Anticipating the crush of fans, the store sold a limited 300 bottles of the perfume that day. But word of Knowles’ appearance packed the store with more than 400 fans, many of whom cheered each time she answered “I love you, Beyonce!” and “You’re beautiful!” with a small wave and smile from her autograph table.
