In response to the human devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, Beyonce Knowles; Tina Knowles, Principal Designer for the House of Dereon; Kelly Rowland and the Knowles family announced a $1,000,000.00 donation through the Survivor Foundation to St. John’s Downtown and the Bread of Life. The generous donation will go toward the development of transitional living apartments for people who are homeless as a result of personal or natural disasters. The transitional housing development is a collaborative effort between the Knowles’, St. John’s Downtown and the Bread of Life- the non-profit agency that has addressed the homeless problem in Houston, TX over the last thirteen years. “This is truly a blessing in our attempt to add transitional living opportunities for the men, women and families that we have strived to care for over the years,” states Rudy Rasmus pastor of St. John’s downtown. “I’ve known the Knowles family for many years and this is a true reflection of their generosity and humanitarian spirit.”
