When all is said and done and Houston’s Destiny’s Child swears that it is done the just-released hits album #1’s, is dolled up as beautiful and immaculate as Beyonc, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams themselves. This compilation also provides another opportunity to make a grab at fans with the inclusion of three new songs. On the flip side, the title is misleading. After all, how can new songs already be chart-toppers? And past hits Bug a Boo (No. 33 on Billboard’s pop chart and No. 15 on the R&B chart in 1999), Jumpin’ Jumpin’ (No. 3 pop, No. 8 R&B in 2000) or Bootylicious (No. 7 pop, No. 17 R&B) were popular, but not as popular as advertised by the compilation’s title. This may be splitting hairs, but after selling 40 million albums worldwide and establishing itself as the most commercially successful “girl group” on the planet, there’s no need for Destiny’s Child to dress up its final bow with anything but the truth.
