Beyonce is nominated for a whopping 5 nominations for this year’s 2004 MTV Video Music Awards!! Four of which are for her latest hit single “Naughty Girl”. The first Moonman won’t be handed out for another month, but Jay-Z and Beyonc are already looking like the king and queen of the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards: The two led the pack when nominations were announced Tuesday morning.

Usher, Kanye West, Jessica Simpson, Hoobastank, Yellowcard and Jet were also unveiled as the show’s first performers at Tuesday’s announcement in Miami, where the show will be held August 29, marking the VMAs’ first staging outside of New York or Los Angeles.

Jay’s gritty “99 Problems” clip grabbed the most nominations with six, including nods for Best Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Rap Video

Beyonc, No Doubt, Usher and Outkast are close behind with five nominations each. Beyonc’s “Naughty Girl” garnered four noms (including Best Female Video), while her “Me, Myself and I” landed in the Best R&B Video category. Usher also spread his five nominations over two different videos, earning four for “Yeah!” and one for “Burn.” No Doubt’s five nominations came courtesy of the “It’s My Life” clip, while Outkast landed their five nods for “Hey Ya!”

Britney Spears, Kanye West, Steriogram, the White Stripes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs all notched four nominations, while Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, D12, Jet and Modest Mouse scored three noms. Christina Aguilera, Franz Ferdinand, Hoobastank, Jessica Simpson, Maroon 5, Missy Elliott, the Darkness and Yellowcard also head into the show with multiple nominations.

Jay’s “99 Problems” will battle Outkast’s “Hey Ya!,” Usher’s “Yeah!,” Britney’s “Toxic,” and D12’s “My Band” for Video of the Year, while Franz Ferdinand’s “Take Me Out,” Modest Mouse’s “Float On,” Kanye West’s “All Falls Down,” New Found Glory’s “All Downhill From Here,” the White Stripes’ “The Hardest Button to Button” and Steriogram’s “Walkie Talkie Man” will vie for Breakthrough Video.

This year’s Viewer’s Choice Award will be determined by the VMAyhem Viewer’s Choice Playoffs, which will allow MTV.com users to whittle a field of 40 videos down to the five final nominees via a series of head-to-head video battles. Voting on the five final nominees will begin on August 18.

The 2004 MTV Video Music Awards will be staged at Miami’s American Airlines Arena on August 29 and will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. on MTV (tape-delayed on the West Coast).

Destiny’s Child star Beyonce Knowles tells Reuters she was delighted to get the part of a femme fatale in ‘The Pink Panther’, although she hadn’t seen the original movie. “I’m sure a lot of people of my generation haven’t - I have little memories of it but I really wasn’t too familiar with it,” she said. “When I got this I thought it was really really funny and I was really excited because Iam such a big fan of Steve Martin’s, forever.” Watch a video report from the film set HERE.

That infamous bumbling French detective is on his way back, as Steve Martin takes possession of the brand new “Pink Panther.” Martin helped “Extra” unveil the new Inspector Clouseau for the first time for our behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the upcoming comedy.

“It’s very good I think,” said Martin in Clouseau-voice, before getting serious to reveal that, “We’re not doing the same gags; we’re doing different gags and a new story.”

Martin told us that apart from his accent, almost everything about this “Pink Panther” is new. And the famed comic added that he’s trying to put his own signature on the character, which the late Peter Sellers immortalized.

“I’m sort of doing it my own way,” Martin told us. “There are subtle changes. We’re not just updating the old movies.”

In the film, Inspector Clouseau is trying to solve the murder of a world famous soccer coach. And the beautiful Beyonc Knowles is among the suspects. Knowles revealed that she plays a pop star in the film, and loves every minute of it.

“It’s going to be fun because I get to perform and sing in the movie and I always have fun doing that,” she told us.

The new “Pink Panther” is expected to hit the big screen next year.

Want to take a walk in Beyonce’s shoes? The bootylicious singer-actress has designed a special pair in boyfriend Jay-Z’s S. Carter line (the rapper’s real name is Shawn Carter) with Reebok and so have Tyra Banks, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Joy Bryant and Queen Latifah to be auctioned off beginning Monday. Proceeds from the auction (on www.rbk.com through Aug. 2) will go to Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund, which helps disadvantaged youth and nontraditional high school grads attend college.

For her design, Beyonc settled on a simple white S. Carter shoe with pink and grey trim. Queen Latifah’s shoe is even more minimalist: It simply bears her logo on the side of a plain white shoe. The other women opted for more colorful looks, like Fergie’s red, white and deep-blue shoe with old-English-style letters along the side saying, “One World.”

Hip-hop supremo Jay-Z is so besotted with his singer girlfriend Beyonce Knowles he has bought her two lavish homes in America and England. The generous 34-year-old has splashed out more than $9 million on a luxurious penthouse in South Beach, Miami, Florida and a stunning apartment in the Naughty Girl singer’s favourite London spot Chelsea.

A close insider reveals, “He really wanted somewhere safe for him and Beyonce to stay when they hit London or the beach. Even though they are happy to stay in top hotels, they both spend so much time travelling, he thinks they’d benefit long-term from having their own bases.

“Beyonce seems to be spending more time in Britain and Jay knows she particularly loves Chelsea. He’s an amazing guy who looks out for his family and friends. And boy, will there be some wild parties held in the new places.”

Knowles already owns several properties in New York and shares a plush flat with her cousin and personal assistant Angie in Miami, but her boyfriend insists the time has come for bigger things.

Beyonce performed last night at that gig that I told you about, that was offering to pay $1.8 million. I hope there’s a video out there of it, because if there is, you can be sure that I’ll upload it ;-) Anyway, Beyonce looked great, and it looked like she was “performing her tail off”. Undercover.com.au reports that Usher plans to do an ‘Duet Album’ with some of his favorite female artist. Usher said there were so many great female artists to choose from. “Brandy, Alicia Keys, Jamiela, Beyonce,” he said. “I couldn’t choose one. Maybe the next thing I will do is put out an album with the hottest ladies”. However, he doesnt plan to release something of the sort until 2006.

The New York Post reports that on Saturday (July 3), a Mercedes Maybach pulled up in front of Downtown Cipriani and an attractive, casually dressed woman with a long brunette ponytail got out with a similarly attired man. A passerby called out, “Oh my God, J.Lo you are so gorgeous!” The woman in question smiled and looked directly at the fan. “Thank you,” she said. “But my name isn’t J.Lo. It’s Beyonce.”
